Where to lubricate an RDC

Picture (Click to Zoom) Directions

Motor Bushings

One place that will eventually need lubrication is the motor bushings: As seen in this image, they are the small brass ring at the base of the drive shaft on the motor. There is one on each side of the motor.

Worm Gear Bushings

The Worm gear bushings are, like the motor bushings, the small brass rings next to the worm gear. You will need to disassemble the trucks to reach these (see step #9 of our disassembly guide).

Idle Gears

The idle gears are the third and final area of the RDC that may require lubrication after extended use. They can be reached by removing the gearbox from the trucks as per step #9 of our disassembly guide.

Remember that your Kato RDC comes pre-lubricated so you should NOT lubricate your model right away as it can result in dirt buildup and a loss in performance.
